The purpose of this 57 acre survey was to facilitate the sale of the property by the owners to the State of Connecticut. Since the property was to be conveyed to the Department of Environmental Protection, the survey was required to be performed in accordance with the rigorous survey and mapping standards established by the CT DEP. In addition to the normal land record research and field surveys needed for all perimeter surveys, DEP has special corner monument requirements concerning the type of markers used and maximum spacing between marks. In addition, each survey includes the preparation of a surveyor’s report documenting which maps, deeds and records were used to control the survey, the rationale applied for establishing each property line and corner location and a title summary which includes copies of all field notes, calculations, deeds, maps and any other material utilized to complete the survey. A key component to this survey was addressing recorded easements and rights of way and their affect on the property being acquired by the state.
