This project involved the construction of a new highway garage on a site directly behind the Municipal Building. The main building contains garage spaces, offices and storage for the City Highway and Engineering Departments. The site also accommodates a salt shed, fueling facility for City vehicles and outdoor storage of construction materials and equipment. Services provided included land surveying, civil/site design, local and state permitting and construction documents and administration. A major design consideration of the project was the relocation of a watercourse that bisected the site. Because the watercourse contained potential fish habitat, the relocated stream needed to incorporate fish habitat elements in its design and construction. DiCesare-Bentley Engineers, Inc. worked closely with the owner and DEP Fisheries staff to develop the plans and to coordinate construction.
